Drafting Supervisor supervises a team within an organization's computer-aided design (CAD) department. Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of drafters and other employees working on design projects. Being a Drafting Supervisor ensures deadlines, goals, and production standards for the department are met. Analyzes data and reviews drawings/plans to ensure quality of work and project feasibility. Additionally, Drafting Supervisor reviews project results and makes recommendations for improvement. Provides CAD technical support and develops solutions. Uses knowledge of the field to keep the department's software, techniques, and tools up to date. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Drafting Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. SUMMARY
The Engineering Technician will assist in solving design problems and carry out tasks assigned by civil engineers and project managers. They must be proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D as they will be expected to work independently to prepare technical engineering plans. They will also research engineering requirements, prepares basic engineering calculations, maintain company CAD standards, and assist in preparing reports or related work as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical
• Carries out tasks assigned by the Project Lead and engineering team.
• Assisting with the design of on-site and off-site improvements under the direction of senior engineering staff.
• Develops working drawings for civil design plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D (grading, drainage, utility, stormwater management and street frontage improvements) from sketches.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D grading feature lines, terrain model, earthworks, corridors, labels, etc.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D utility pipe networks, modification of utility structures, etc.
• Determines scales, layout, and need for specific detail.
• Prepares drawings per company CAD standards and project-dependent CAD specifications.
• Manages personal time allotted to various tasks in order to meet obligations of one or more projects, including budget, quality and schedule.
• Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
• 3 years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, civil engineering, and/or land development projects
• General knowledge of computers, Microsoft office, Adobe, Internet, etc.
• Proficient in BlueBeam/BlueBeam Studio
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D
