This is an on-site position here in South Londonderry, VT, and is a unique opportunity for a hard-working, tiny house -loving designer to join a rapidly growing local business in southern Vermont.
Jamaica Cottage Shop, Inc, is a privately held wood manufacturing company founded in 1995 and located in South Londonderry, VT. We are a B2C direct distributor of fine post and beam buildings including storage sheds, cottages, tiny homes, garages, & woodsheds.
We are seeking a designer to join our continually growing Drafting/Design Department. You will collaborate with other members of our team and complete all aspects of the technical design on a wide range of projects in an exciting, fast-paced environment.
We value the ability to learn quickly, be proactive, and juggle multiple projects when necessary to meet deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on Adobe InDesign is a MUST.
- Microsoft Office Suite (working knowledge of MSExcel is a MUST).
- Experience with rendering and 3D Modeling.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills and listening skills to be able to clearly communicate both in writing as well as over the phone and in video conferencing when needed.
- Work with minimal supervision or instruction - manage tasks independently but can collaborate as a team member.
- Construction knowledge is a PLUS.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects at once.
- Strong attention to detail and use of appreciative and comprehensive listening skills necessary to critically think and evaluate instructions and data.
- Prioritize effectively and multi-task efficiently.
- Change gears quickly when needed.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Update and/or Create both Fully Assembled and Pre-Cut Kit plans including framing, wall preparation, mechanical, electrical, lighting, interior modifications, millwork, etc.
- Assist with Design Consultations, create/revise/finalize floor plans for invoicing, and assist Sales/Service with tech support questions.
- Display a thorough knowledge of our product line to professionally and empathetically assist clients with Tech Support as they assemble our pre-cut kits.
- Log all client interactions in our customer database (SAP Business One CRM – training supplied).
- Use SAP Business One to create Production Orders and manage additional production and design tasks in the system.
- Work with the Sales Department to manage the Design Fee/Consultation process from concept through approval and change requests, while tracking time spent.
- Identify and proactively address conflicts between design and client requests following our product line guidelines.
- Stay up to speed with current and online Sketchup and InDesign techniques and best practices.
- Multi-task with quick shifts in direction and solid organization skills with little to no supervision.
