General Description:
Has direct responsibility and authority to oversee, direct and guide station supervisors in their daily operations of all area personnel. Accountable to oversee all supervisors and maintain all state, federal, and local EMS regulations for their assigned employees. Responsible for the successful operations of Augusta-Richmond County EMS field operations. Enforce company policies, standard operating guidelines, medical protocols, and directives of the Vice President of Operations (VPO) and Corporate Leadership Team (CLT).
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for completing and reviewing employee evaluations.
- Giving guidance and suggestions to improve employee performance and morale.
- Listens to and resolves grievances and employee complaints.
- Maintains proper staffing levels for all shifts at all stations/locations. Resolves scheduling problems in a timely manner.
- Collaborates with the VPO and/or CLT on employee morale and efficiency.
- Assures an optimum level of readiness and capability of the fleet and equipment.
- Monitors the condition and availability of fleet and field equipment.
- Maintains an ongoing personal familiarity with all operational aspects of the company.
- Oversight and guidance on all oral and written operational reports.
- Review run reports and call sheets, taking appropriate actions to assure paperwork compliance with company policy.
- Ensures accountability according to the chain of command.
- Makes sure all company policies, standard operation guidelines, protocols, directives and other applicable information or changes are communicated to the supervisors and employees.
- Collaborates with department heads as needed concerning field operations.
- Advises the VPO and CLT of challenges involving operational deficiencies.
- Maintains a professional persona while on and off duty.
- Required to meet quarterly with contracted partners of Central EMS within their respective zones.
- Attends government and community meetings as appropriate.
- Collaborates with VPO and CLT on potential growth strategies.
- Design and implement performance metrics to maximize operational efficiency.
- Serves as Central EMS's representative on committees or boards within the Regional EMS Council.
- Oversees and enforces billing compliance.
- Exposure to various weather conditions in the performance of routine duties and/or special assignments.
- Flexible work schedule to include Saturday, Sunday, and holidays as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:
- Minimum of three years of experience in EMS management.
- Outstanding leadership and supervisory skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
- Exceptional knowledge of emergency care procedures.
- Exceptional knowledge of common physical illnesses, obvious symptoms, and appropriate medical
- Demonstrates the ability to think and act quickly and appropriately under stressful situations.
- Considerable skill in emergency vehicle driving technique.
- Ability to prepare detailed written reports legibly.
- Ability to maintain good working relations with crew members, public safety officers, hospital staff,
- Exceptional communications skills: both written and verbal.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- State of Georgia Paramedic license required.
