Drilling Operations Director directs and oversees the drilling, production, and engineering operations for an organization. Oversees all aspects of planning and executing drilling projects, developing oil and gas fields, and analyzing reserves. Being a Drilling Operations Director is responsible for directing revisions or enhancements to troubleshoot and solve drilling problems. May coordinate drilling contractors and production managers/superintendents. Additionally, Drilling Operations Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a top management. The Drilling Operations Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Director of Operations will also leverage automation, outsourcing, and engineering innovation to stay competitive in the market as the company continues its growth.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead the organization with a strategic mindset to assist in production management, quality assurance, supply chain management and process improvement to scale.
    • Showcase proven expertise in managing high-growth organizations, implementing necessary reorganizations, personnel changes, and process improvements (including a bigger metrics orientation) for enhanced operational efficiency.
    • Upgrade leadership/management competencies of all management personnel. Source and implement training programs to enhance workforce skills, ensuring employees are equipped to operate effectively in a rapidly expanding organization.
    • Actively create and participate in leadership team initiatives including developing and implementing business strategies that allow the business to drive profitability, innovation, and growth.
    • Identify opportunities for automation and implement technologies to streamline production processes and increase efficiency.
    • Manage inventory levels of raw materials and components to support production schedules while minimizing carrying costs and stockouts.
    • Evaluate opportunities for outsourcing certain manufacturing processes or components to optimize cost structure and enhance competitiveness.
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization, with a focus on leveraging automation and engineering solutions.
    • Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, encouraging team members to contribute ideas for automation, outsourcing, and engineering improvements.
    • Review workload and manpower to meet customer commitments in a cost-effective manner.
    • Ensure that projects are completed timely, below budget, and to the satisfaction of the customer.
    • Drive the company to achieve and surpass profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives.
    • Review monthly financial/operational reports and work with front-line managers to develop action plans to improve.
    • Take initiative in annual manufacturing budgeting and forecasting.
    • Plan, manage and implement schedules to meet daily customer commitments and ensure that the plan is properly executed and provide assistance with technical/mechanical troubleshooting/problem-solving.
    • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing manufacturing operations, preferably in the wood products industry.
    • 8 years’ experience managing front-line Operations, Customer Service, and plant personnel.
    • Proven experience managing skilled labor personnel, scheduling/overseeing projects and managing budgets, and controlling costs required.
    • Experience implementing a new ERP system, preferred.
    • Possess an ability for technical applications, mechanical systems, and problem-solving.
    • Experience conducting meetings with exempt and non-exempt personnel and experience hiring, training, developing, and conducting annual performance reviews.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong leadership, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
    • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
    • Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including being able to audit current software/tools and recommend improvements.
    • Strong ethics and a commitment to company values.
    • Strong ability to work with ownership as a collaborative partner.

    Salary:

    • $130-140K
