Drilling Operations Director directs and oversees the drilling, production, and engineering operations for an organization. Oversees all aspects of planning and executing drilling projects, developing oil and gas fields, and analyzing reserves. Being a Drilling Operations Director is responsible for directing revisions or enhancements to troubleshoot and solve drilling problems. May coordinate drilling contractors and production managers/superintendents. Additionally, Drilling Operations Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a top management. The Drilling Operations Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     Founded in 1933, Champion Industrial Contractors, Inc., located in Modesto, CA has decades of experience successfully completing numerous educational, healthcare, food and beverage, commercial, industrial, hospitality, and public works projects.  Their 67,000 S.F. fabrication facility is centrally located in the central valley of California and houses HVAC ductwork, refrigeration, specialty sheet metal, plumbing, process piping and industrial prefabrication operations.  Champion Industrial also provides 24/7 emergency service repairs and is a trusted source for equipment preventative maintenance. Champion as of March of 2023 has partnered with Orion Group to grow into a one stop shop for the Central Valley and beyond.

     

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Director of Operations will be an integral part of the Champion leadership team, and responsible for overseeing and managing operations of the business. The professional will have responsibilities that span the entire Champion Operation including but not limited to: Project Management, Customer Service, Quality, Technical Capabilities, and Supply Chain execution. The VP of Operations will have responsibilities in alignment with the direction and the budget set by the President.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Build, establish and manage operational processes and rigor to efficiently run and scale the operation.
    • Develop and manage direct report team, including developing middle management leadership team.
    • Support Identification and recruiting top talent in industry, resulting in attracting the best technical talent in the region.
    • Working with the COO on understanding the industry, and best practices
    • Create a culture of continuous improvement and facilitate a mindset of finding ways to make process and tasks more efficient.
    • Responsible for ensuring technical competencies and readiness across the labor workforce.
    • Responsible for the profitability of jobs being executed and delivered by the operation.
    • Be an active leader in the organization, leading direct team and cross-functionally influencing peer groups (Finance, Administrative, and Sales)
    • Responsible for fostering, growing, and cultivating the Champion culture.
    • Provide the management team with information and insights vital to the decision-making process.

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

    • Strong technical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong and proven process driven skills.
    • 5 years managing technical teams.
    • 5 years in management role (leading teams directly and influencing cross-functionally).
    • Proven track record executing on operational and technical activities.
    • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Proven ability to influence and execute tasks cross-functionally.

     

     

     

    PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Manufacturing / Production experience in a supervisor capacity.
    • LEAN / Kaizen / Continuous Improvement experience or mindset; examples of any process improvement projects or revamp successes.
    • Capacity management; labor, material, and equipment usage.
    • Supply Chain management experience: ability to forecast and erode material bottlenecks while balancing capital expenditure.

    COMPENSATION AND TIMING

    A competitive compensation package will be offered based on qualifications. Director of Operations title and pay can be offered based on experience. Start dates are flexible but near term.
