Overview/Introduction:
The Director of Operations is an executive level position of a rapidly growing company of 60 stores. This position contributes to our mission at Freedom Enterprises and Scooter’s Coffee by providing strategic leadership to the entirety of the operations team consisting of Regional, District, and Store Managers. This position will ensure the development, commitment, and accountability of operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, results driven operations guru with a passion for people and the Scooter’s Brand.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership & Professionalism:
- Be a cultivator of culture within Freedom Enterprises and exhibit and protect our values
- Build and develop high performing, results driven Regional and District Managers through coaching, providing transparent insight and feedback, and meaningful development opportunities.
- Implement and strategize operational plans for the company, lead execution, and measure results.
- Ensure goals & objectives are clearly defined, communicated, and upheld to every level of leadership.
- Play a leading role in compiling company budget and growth strategy
- Formulate, monitor, and enhance overall operational performance and fiscal goals
- Set clear expectations and KPIs for the operations team and ensure teams have the tools, resources, and accountability they need to meet and exceed expectations of operational excellence.
- Ensure all operations are optimized and maintained, achieving operational targets, and developing and executing plans to drive growth.
- Assist with planning future growth of the company, including new store additions and business ventures.
- Demonstrate the ability to think critically and strategically, build relationships, and solve problems.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing with the operations team to ensure the brand promise is being fulfilled throughout the company.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.

- Be proficient in your knowledge of the processes and procedures of making quality Scooter’s drinks and teach others to do the same.

- Demonstrate and excel in the ability to be fast and efficient in all areas of the barista station and teach others to do the same. This includes (but not limited to) shots, milk, smoothies, food, and POS.
Assess stores to determine if any of the three Amazing’s are missing. In addition, coach district and regional managers on how to formulate a plan to fix any areas of the Amazing’s that are not up to company and brand standards.
Genuine Brand Advocacy:
- Educate team members to positively reflect the brand by assessing the appearance of each store and how it affects the strength of the Scooter’s brand. Enforce adherence to brand standards at all times.
- Show true passion for the company, both Freedom Enterprises and the Scooter’s Coffee brand.
- Radiate positivity in goals and future endeavors of our company and brand and transfer that passion to others.
Business Knowledge
- Effectively hire and develop quality staff at all levels (baristas, MITs, Training Specialists, Store Managers, District & Regional Managers and be able to instill in teams why this matters. Recognize when an employee is not an “A” player and ensure, if necessary, that the correction is quickly and decisively made.
- Ensure ongoing accountability is in place for company leaders in the company to maintain focus on the following:

- Key KPI metrics
- Window Times
- SPHH / SPH
- Weekly Sales
- Food %
- Avg Ticket
- COGS
- Labor
- Customer Complaints
- Product Mix (ex. Food, extra shots, larges)
- Understand the operation flow of each style of store in our system. (single sided kiosks, double sided kiosks, sit-down with drive-thru, and non-traditional hospital locations)
- Analyze store environments and key performance indicators to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
- Coach district and regional managers and develop an action plan with operational excellence being the goal.
- Teach managers the systems and procedures of Freedom Enterprises and Scooter’s Coffee. This includes, but is not limited to: all manuals, leadership classes, systems & processes (current & future).
- Be a subject matter expert and trainer on Microsoft Office and Google Workspace programs.
- Ensure understanding and adherence to our Scooter’s franchise agreement, including the requirements and limitations.
Qualifications:

- Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity
- Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Expert knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
Travel Requirements:
- Candidate must reside in the Kansas City Metro or Omaha, Nebraska area.
- Travel of up to 30% will be required.
- A valid driver's license is required at all times
- 40 hours per week will be required to successfully fulfill the job requirements. This amount will vary based upon individual circumstances.
