Drilling Operations Director directs and oversees the drilling, production, and engineering operations for an organization. Oversees all aspects of planning and executing drilling projects, developing oil and gas fields, and analyzing reserves. Being a Drilling Operations Director is responsible for directing revisions or enhancements to troubleshoot and solve drilling problems. May coordinate drilling contractors and production managers/superintendents. Additionally, Drilling Operations Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a top management. The Drilling Operations Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Drilling Operations Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. - Maintain quality control standards to meet industry and customer specifications
- Collaborate with supply chain partners to optimize inventory and minimize lead times.
- Enforce safety protocols to maintain a healthy work environment.
- Establish KPIs to monitor operational performance and drive continuous improvement efforts
- Lead, mentor, coach, and train teams, fostering accountability and collaboration.
- Manage operational budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Lead initiatives to streamline processes and implement best practices (lean manufacturing/six sigma)
- Work with sales teams to understand customer requirements and ensure satisfaction
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
- 10 years of manufacturing operations experience
- 5 years experience in a leadership role making engineered products
- Automotive industry experience highly preferred
- Proven success of improving operations and exceeding departmental goals
- Strong understanding of engineered products manufacturing process
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles, six sigma methodologies, and similar
- Ability to manage budgets and drive cost saving initiatives
- Must be highly proficient in MS Office and ERP systems
