Drilling Operations Director directs and oversees the drilling, production, and engineering operations for an organization. Oversees all aspects of planning and executing drilling projects, developing oil and gas fields, and analyzing reserves. Being a Drilling Operations Director is responsible for directing revisions or enhancements to troubleshoot and solve drilling problems. May coordinate drilling contractors and production managers/superintendents. Additionally, Drilling Operations Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a top management. The Drilling Operations Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Drilling Operations Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Performance Responsibilities:

    ·         Visits sites to inspect facilities, meet with building administrators, and evaluate maintenance needs; develops short and long term plans to manage site needs.

    ·         Purchases equipment and supplies and monitors expenditures to operate in a cost-effective manner in compliance with procurement codes.

    ·         Assists administration in budgeting, facilities master planning, and replacement schedules; serves on district committees as requested.

    ·         Works with construction project managers and architects on major capital construction and renovation projects.

    ·         Serves as district liaison with outside contractors and consultants for quoting and completion of specified jobs.

    ·         Develops strategies that address security, safety, energy conservation, and preventative maintenance.

    ·         Directs projects (e.g., site repairs/construction, preventive maintenance) to ensure completion within established time frames, project design and compliance with budget guidelines.

    ·         Coordinates schedules and special event operations to ensure required facilities preparation.

    ·         Assists other personnel to support them in the completion of their work activities.

    ·         Collaborates with others (e.g., district personnel, governmental agencies, outside firms, community organizations) to implement and maintain services and programs.

    ·         Develops long and short range maintenance plans and programs (e.g., emergency response plans, energy management plans, annual budget) to ensure that District resources are effectively utilized.

    ·         Inspects new construction, repair work, projects, equipment, work orders, daily maintenance and supplies to ensure that jobs are completed efficiently; specifications for major capital improvements are within local, State, and Federal regulations; and payment requests.

    ·         Monitors fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity to ensure that expenses are within budget limits and fiscal practices are followed.

    ·         Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars to convey and gather information required to perform functions.

    ·         Performs personnel functions (e.g., interviewing, evaluating, supervising, scheduling, training) to maintain adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and achieving objectives within budget.

    ·         Prepares written materials (e.g., correspondence, memos, reports, policy and procedures, budget) to document activities, provide reference and convey information.

    ·         Recommends policies and procedures to maintain services and programs.

    ·         Researches new products, laws and regulations for recommendation of purchases, contracts and maintaining district wide services.

    ·         Responds to emergencies during normal working hours and non-working hours to maintain a satisfactory working environment at all district buildings and grounds.

    ·         Reviews all security/safety precautions and procedures for recommending additions, changes or reductions to the security/safety systems.

    ·         All other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to drive. The employee must be able to hear the difference between bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc. The employee continuously communicates through speech.

    The employee frequently works outside in a loud environment and is exposed to sunlight. The employee walks on slippery surfaces, works over 6 feet off the ground and may work in confined spaces. The employee is exposed to environmental allergens and has contact with oils, solvents, degreaser, pesticides, and/or herbicides, gases, fumes, sprays, etc. The employee is continuously interacting with the public and staff. The employee is required to work irregular or extended work hours and meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

    Terms of Employment:  Twelve months/260 days; salary and work year to be established by the Board


    Reports To: Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations 




     Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Service Personnel.
