Special Education Teacher Job Description
Prospect Grove High School is a private licensed high school that services a residential drug and alcohol treatment facility for adolescent males. We strive to provide a rigorous academic program that focuses on a 21st century education delivered through a social-emotional learning model. The Special Education Teacher is a full time position who will ensure that paperwork remains in compliance for our special education population while attending our school, as well as aid classroom teachers in following IEP’s and behavior support plans, and monitor student progress toward Special Education goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Individualized Education Programs and Reevaluation Reports – The special education coordinator will ensure that paperwork is received from the home school district in a timely manner, revise and update documents as needed to remain in compliance with the Commonwealth and provide necessary paper work to parent/guardian.
2. Meet with clients regularly to ensure that progress occurring.
3. Ensure that classroom teachers are aware of accommodations and modifications of students, as well as individual goals.
4. Assist teachers with differentiation of lessons.
5. Monitor student performance in all classes and regularly meet content area teachers regarding students’ performance.
6. Push into inclusive classrooms, and pull out students for one on one and small group instruction.
