    This position is full-time and will serve the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM. 

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
    • Experience in populating indices for small to moderate size collections.
    • Experience in populating metadata for archival materials, performing quality control reviews of digitized material.
    • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work independently without direct supervision with strong attention to detail.
    • Experience in customer-focused communication and relations and the ability to work in a team environment.
    • Experience working with classified material in a classified environment.
    • Experience working in a major archival organization, such as the National Archives and Records Administration. Experience in Classified Matter Protection and Control; and Vault Access training.
    • Experience in using LANL’s classified network systems, uploading, cataloging, and retrieving documents.
    • Experience in assisting scientists/engineers with research requests.
    • Experience in operating at least one professional digitizing equipment for either paper, microfilm, microfiche, video, or other media.
    • To be considered, you must have an active or very recently active DOE “Q” Clearance or DoD “Top Secret” Clearance.
    • Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.

    Overview:

    • Manages special records or archive collections and performs basic technical information research and retrieval from the collections to meet the information needs of Laboratory staff and external customers.
    • Conducts basic information or historical research under supervision.
    • Ordering, receiving, indexing, cataloging, preparing, and storing technical information, both published and unpublished, in all formats including electronic, assisting customers, conducting searchers, and providing information.
    • Distributes information to customers following well-established procedures.
    • Developing or fundamental professional expertise applies Laboratory policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
    • Utilizes standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques as recognized within the records management, archives, or library profession.
    • Provides resolutions to an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
    • Contributes to the fulfillment of projects and organizational objectives.
    • Follows established directions.
    • Receives detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
    • Uses judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action.
    • Digitize materials, populate metadata/ indexing information that will be used to develop a robust catalog, and provide quality control for the digitized materials.
    • Complete minor maintenance and repairs of scanning equipment, set up scanning equipment for various media types and sizes and perform any finishing task associated with media to preserve original master copies.
    • Assist with addressing with customer research requests for locating digitized technical information.
    • Assure proper storage and handling of classified information.
    • Assist in the development and documentation of digitization workflows of archived media.
