    POSITION SUMMARY: The Program Coordinator provides supervision to ensure programs at camp run smoothly and leads special programs at camp, such as evening activities, theme days, and and other all-camp activities. 


    BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

    • With guidance of the Assistant Director of Camp Programs, plan, prepare supplies, and facilitate safe, high quality, engaging all camp activities at camp.
    • Supervise, support and, in their absence, step in as a substitute for members of the programming team as they provide safe, high quality, engaging activities which meet PEAK Program Quality Standards.
    • Support in the completion of participation notes and attendance notes for campers.
    • Cover supervision of cabins and groups of campers as needed to support counselors and program instructors.
    • You will actively lead, participate in, and assist in the preparation and implementation of camp, including All Camp activities, staff training, bus duty, inventory/clean-up and more. You may be asked to go to Milwaukee on camper arrival days to interact with campers and families and be a bus chaperone. You may also be asked to be a bus chaperone from Lake Valley Camp to Milwaukee and back on camper departure days.
    • In between sessions (including between orientation/trainings and sessions), Lead Team members will be assigned by Administrators to drive a vehicle back to PEAK in Milwaukee and then bring staff back to Lake Valley Camp after camper drop-off is complete. 
    • As a member of the LVC Leadership Team, you will participate in regular meetings to provide updates and strategize to help our camp community be the best it can be. You will be responsible for some evening/overnight shifts as Supervisor-on-Duty. You may be asked to supervise campers overnight in situations that would mean you would not be staying in your typically living quarters. You will consistently act as a positive role model for our community and your actions and decisions should reflect that expectation.

     

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    • This position is compensated at a rate of $850 per week, pre-tax. If this person is also a certified lifeguard, they will receive a $50 weekly lifeguard bonus during weeks worked, pre-tax.
    • Our summer seasonal staff are paid on a bi-weekly basis and are classified as exempt, seasonal employees.

    • Calm under duress and able to make critical decisions in a quick and logical manner to minimize risk and to ensure safety and well-being of participants and staff.


    REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATIONS

    • Must be able to reside in shared staff housing on the LVC resident camp property in Boscobel, WI starting with leadership team orientation in early June and ending after the last camp program lets out in mid-August. 
    • Ability to live in shared housing with other staff and be “on duty” 24/7
    • Current age-appropriate CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification (PEAK will offer during staff training)
    • Lifeguard Certification (PEAK can support in attaining) preferred, but not required
    • Must be at least 18 and/or have a high school diploma or GED to apply.
    • Valid Driver’s License required


    REPORTING AND RELATIONSHIPS

    • The Program Coordinator will report to the Assistant Director of Camp Programs & Expeditions
    • The Program Coordinator will supervise Program Counselors, which may include Visual Arts Program Counselor, Performing Arts Program Counselor, Team Sports Program Counselor, Nature Program Counselor, Outdoor Living Program Counselor, Team Building Program Counselor, and Archery Program Counselor.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS 

    • The camp environment is often hot or rainy. You must be able to work outside for sustained periods of time without air conditioning. 
    • Position requires standing, stooping, sitting, and walking long distances in hilly terrain.
    • Position requires working weekends and nights, with time off in between camp sessions. Camp days are often long and at times require late night camper support. Staff will have daily scheduled breaks.
    • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations with quick movements or strenuous action, to ensure the safety of campers and other staff members.
