Job Summary
The Accommodations Counselor, under supervision, provides ongoing case management to students with disabilities. This includes direct assistance, individual advocacy, referrals to appropriate campus services and programs, and documentation of students' progress. Manages daily customer services calls, questions and concerns from students, parents, faculty, staff and prospective students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Identifies and meets with new students with disabilities who are eligible for services by reviewing/interpreting documentation and conducting intake interviews.
Manage a caseload of new and returning students and provide ongoing case management.
Evaluates students' disabilities and the resulting effect on their academic performance and participation in campus life in order to provide adequate and appropriate services and academic adjustments.
Responsible for maintaining and management of the Disability Resource Center webpage.
Responsible for oversight of the Note-taker Program and implementation of new technology.
Responsible for outreach and disability awareness activities.
Responsible for data collection and submission of monthly reports.
Assist in data collection for the Disability Resource Center reports.
Assist in maintaining the Accessible Information Management System (AIM).
Assist with Exam Services, proctoring and the entire exam administration process.
Assist in researching and implementing new assistive technology.
Must be available for weekdays after 5pm and weekend commitments for outreach.
Provides consultation, presentations and training to faculty and staff on laws and regulations regarding students with disabilities, confidentiality issues, and strategies for assisting and referring students with disabilities to appropriate campus services.
Serve on university and external committees as a representative of students with disabilities.

Minimum Requirements
Education - Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience - One year of related experience.
Knowledge of - Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable Federal and State laws.
Ability to - Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements - Ability to lift light objects.
