    The Vocational Counselor will develop and write the Prevocational Staff Action Plans and ISP Programs to address the individual’s Prevocational Valued Outcome. The Vocational Counselor assists the individuals on a day-to-day basis, providing training and supports as outlined in each person’s Life Plan. In this position you will be our vocational ambassador representing the services that we can provide for individuals enrolled in our program.

    II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following. Other duties may be assigned.)

    • Developing Site Based Prevocational Staff Action Plans including ISP Programs for everyone on your caseload.
    • Attend meetings annually, semi-annually, and as needed, for individuals on your assigned caseloads as part of the Inter-disciplinary Team process.
    • Follow-up on approved recommendations for the individuals on your caseload.
    • Provide counseling and daily guidance/assistance to individuals on your assigned caseload as needed.
    • Communicate with and train production staff on individual’s Site Based Prevocational Staff Action Plan, which include assisting with plan implementation and gathering necessary performance feedback.
    • Provide training to the individuals per his/her Staff Action Plan/ISP Programs and document the training & response in Therap (data collection).
    • Complete monthly review of training data in Therap, generating a monthly summary.
    • Provide transportation for individuals to and from Creekside Industries daily (route assigned)
    • Provide monitoring of lunchroom during meal and non-mealtimes as assigned.
    • Complete Annual Prevocational Services Assessment for everyone on your caseload
    • Prepare for and participate in monthly Behavioral Consult (BIC) meetings (with Arc Otsego psychologist) where applicable.
    • Maintain service records as required by governing regulations.
    • Monitor the Individualized Plan of Protection (IPOP) documents, Meal Time Plans (MTP), and any other safety protocols for the individuals on your caseload.
    • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area (desk and office).
    • Regulate and enforce all agency rules and policies.
    • Adhere to The Arc Otsego’s philosophies, mission, and core values.
    • Assure security of all confidential files and information on customers and consumers / trainees.
    • Participate in all required department meetings, special projects, and in-services.
    • Assure that safety devices are in good working order and that safety procedures are being properly enforced.
    • Maintain good communication with other staff, including, but not limited to, DSPs and production supervisors.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.
    • This is a professional position requires at least a three-week (21 workday) notice for voluntary resignation of employment.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in psychology, sociology, education, human services, or related field. One year of experience in programs serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in vocational/industrial settings.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS/REASONING ABILITY

    Must possess excellent verbal and analytical skills. Must be a team player.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar or line graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    Must have excellent computer skills.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
