  • Job Description and Worker Characteristics:

    This is a highly responsible administrative position with work in planning, organizing, and directing GIS activities. Work involves responsibility for providing technical expertise and supervision for the day-to-day implementation and operation of the GIS within the context of programs and policy directives. Work includes coordinating GIS activities, managing GIS vendor contracts, planning and organizing system development activities, and other GIS project management activities. Supervision is exercised over a staff of subordinate GIS staff positions. Work is performed independently within established policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Auditor’s GIS Policy and is reviewed through reports, conferences, and system performance.

    Specifically the Auditor’s office GIS director:

    • Manages resources of GIS; confers and coordinates with user organizations and GIS personnel to determine user needs.
    • Oversees all GIS operations; supervises directly, or through GIS staff, all activity associated with implementation, operation, and enhancement of the GIS.
    • Coordinates and monitors contracts with GIS hardware, software, data conversion, and other providers of GIS products and services.
    • Coordinates with groups involved in GIS data sharing
    • Organizes application and other development activities.
    • Provides oversight on activities associated with implementing, operating, and enhancing the GIS
    • Prepares the annual budget for GIS operations, capital expenditures, and professional services.
    • Coordinates design and enforcement of GIS standards and operating procedures.
    • Develops GIS project schedules and work programs to support organization-wide GIS operations.
    • Plans for in-house and contracted training programs on GIS operations and applications.
    • Assists in management of database resources of GIS; confer and coordinate with the Auditor and user organizations, e.g., Surveyors, Title Companies, Local Governments and County personnel.
    • Is responsible for refinement and enforcement of data standards impacting Cadastral applications, database designs, and data update procedures.
    • Oversees data quality control procedures and loading of Cadastral data into the system; coordinates activities in data acquisition, transfer and translation.
    • Designs applications, programs, menu interfaces or other tools that may be needed for use by Auditor’s Office, local governments, businesses and the general public.
    • Develops specifications and RFPs for consulting services, conversion contracts and other outsourcing projects.
    • Conducts proposed software usability tests; review and recommend geospatial software for use by County Auditor staff. Assist and train users in the Auditor’s Office in the use of GIS software and the use of applications.
    • Interfaces with Enterprise GIS Manager at Clermont County GIS and engages the Clermont County GIS User Group(s) to ensure coordination with County standards, objectives, development initiatives and systems and data integration.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
