Additionally, EEO Trainer requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The EEO Trainer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     GENERAL DESCRIPTION


    The Athletic Trainer (ATC) is responsible for providing athletic training services to student athletes within the scope of their license under the direction of a physician and within the guidelines of the contract. The ATC may also function as a DME Specialist in the clinic setting during off-season or if they have a part-time school contract.


    RESPONSIBILITIES


    • Athletic Training
      • Provide onsite athletic training services to athletes covered within an assigned school contract (i.e., evaluating injuries, administering exercises, etc.);
      • Provide services to organizations, tournaments, club sports, Section 2 and NYSPHAA when necessary;
      • Provide injury statistics and documentation in an accurate and organized manner to AT Coordinator on a weekly basis or as requested;
      • Act as backup to other ATCs as needed;
    • Clinic
      • Cast application, specialty casts, suture/staple removal, dressing changes; prepares injections, obtains cultures as ordered/needed when working in the clinic;
      • Dispense Durable Medical Equipment (DME) to patients, application of DME and custom brace measurements;
      • Verify patient information; recording medical history and reporting to physician;
      • Assist provider with patient care, including in office reductions/procedures;
      • Call patients to make DME appointments once insurance authorization is obtained;
    • Maintain and safeguard all patient records as indicated and required by the policies of the practice and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
    • Engage in a teamwork mentality by readily accepting additional responsibilities needed to make operations with the school and clinic run efficiently.


    QUALIFICATIONS


    • Bachelor’s degree from a program in athletic training that is registered by the New York State Education Department as licensure qualifying;
    • NYS License, NATA Board Certification and CPR required;
    • One to three years’ ATC experience; five years’ preferred;
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred;
    • Valid drivers license;
    • Experience casting preferred, willing to train;
    • Excellent verbal communication skills as the position requires communication with athletes and their family members, staff, providers as well as third parties to foster excellent customer service.
    • The ability to react/respond quickly in emergencies, including life threatening situations is required.


    OTHER INFORMATION


    • Working in a clinical office (COVID safety protocols in effect) is required.
    • This position may periodically require more than 40 hours a week and presence at after school (evenings) and/or weekend school events.
    • Travel between OrthoNY offices and/or third-party locations (i.e., schools, sporting events, local marketing event locations) is required (about 50% of the time).
    • Scheduling varies in the clinic due to the times that the physician’s schedules begin and end.
    • Physical requirements include standing for long periods of time, walking and/or continuous moving around. Also kneeling, crouching, crawling and/or working in other unusual physical positions, climbing, balancing, stretching as well as pushing/pulling lifting/carrying objects up to 50 lbs. Assisted lifting is required for any athlete/other item over the 50 lb. limit.
