EHR Support Systems Fiscal Specialist I (937)
Remote 100% to CA Residents Only

Under limited supervision run a major computerized Electronic Health Records application for high volume billing with restricted deadlines.

How will I contribute

• Responsible for Accounts Receivable End of Month and Supplemental billing processes for Mental Health Medi-Cal, Drug Medi-Cal, Minor Consent, Medicare, Private Insurance and Private Pay/Client billing for multiple counties.
• Provide Help Desk type support for end-users as needed for healthcare related billing questions, payments and claims.
• Ability to analyze data and develop plan of correction with county and follow-up or assist in corrections if needed.
• Ability to research billing issues, using sound judgment and understanding of when to seek assistance for unresolved issues. Limited communication with Medi-Cal and Medicare regarding electronic file submissions and payments.
• Troubleshoot rejected 837 Professional and Institutional electronic claim files and resolve errors to resubmit claims.
• Ability to process 835 files which may include manual application of payments, rebilling/replacements/voids, and crossing or adjusting remaining balances.
• Research and resolve denied claims using guidelines, principles and concepts of healthcare billing to process claim rebills, replacements and voids as needed.
• Maintain billing logs on a timely basis. Create work orders for assigned tasks. Run specialized reports for A/R, and client billing data.

What I bring

• Associate degree or 60 college semester units in an appropriate field plus two years related experience. Advanced experience may be substituted in lieu of college on a year-for-year
• Class C Driving Requirements
• Experience in billing 3rd party payers including Medi-Cal and Medicare
• Proficient writing skills, 10 key by touch, analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to communicate clearly with staff end-users to help resolve various problems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to function and complete tasks in a remote team environment.
• Basic understanding and demonstrated ability in computer operations and concepts. Basic knowledge of principles, theories and concepts of accounting. Basic knowledge of office medical/clinical records operations. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electronic file submission problems. Ability to communicate clearly with end-users to help resolve various software issues. Ability to provide Help Desk support when needed. Ability to function in a team environment working on complex software accounting and clinical back office support issues
