EHR Application Analyst, Sr. plans, analyzes, designs and modifies EHR (electronic health record) software applications, including encoding, testing, debugging and installing to support the implementation of one or more software modules. Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives. Being an EHR Application Analyst, Sr. may be expected to write documentation describing program development, logic, coding, and corrections. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, EHR Application Analyst, Sr. requires EPIC Certification in one or more dedicated modules, such as Scheduling, Emergency Room, Patient Registration, or other medical specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The EHR Application Analyst, Sr. work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. Assist in the implementation of hospital clinical application projects and will report to the Clinical Application Manager. Ensures consistent and accurate administration of IT Application day to day operations. Provides enhancements and maintains current applications to meet the needs of clinicians in providing quality and cost effective care.
Education: Require Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in clinical area or equivalent in clinical field, informatics, or healthcare. License/certification in clinical field of expertise a plus. Entry level for Master’s preparation in related field with certification in clinical field of competency preferred. May consider experience in lieu of degree.
Experience: Entry level analyst with demonstrated competencies in the area of expertise the position will be supporting (i.e., pharmacy, lab, cardiology, radiology, emergency services, respiratory therapy, and physician offices). Must have the ability to be both a subject matter expert and technical systems expert who offers an array of cross-functional systems knowledge and support skills for applications used by multiple Huntsville Hospital customer groups.
