    SUMMARY
    Facilitates writing, research, development, review, and editing of departmental and/or institutional grant proposals.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES
    • Develops and writes grants proposals on behalf of Flathead Valley Community College and its Foundation.
    • Facilitates, reviews, and edits grant proposals; conducts research; compiles data; inputs and retrieves data via technology.
    • Conducts research on potential funding sources; maintains contact with external agencies.
    • Works closely with faculty and staff in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals; interacts with campus constituencies involved in grant-funding activities.
    • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of particular areas involved in identifying and soliciting grants; may collaborate with various internal departments.
    • Coordinates related activities; maintains databases, activity tracking system, and related confidential files.
    • Assists in providing training, tools and resources for staff on grants administration, grantor regulations and campus policies and procedures regarding grants.
    • Serves as an institutional resource on grant compliance and provides critical feedback on eligibility and risk.
    • Maintains effective and timely communications between project directors/teams and campus leadership to assure outcomes are being met.
    • Remains current in practices, trends and research related to areas of assignment.
    • Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services to students, employees, and the College.
    • Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships.
    • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
    • Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing in the community in college-related activities.
    • Reports to Executive Director of Research, Assessment, Planning, and Compliance.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor’s degree in related field AND two years of progressively responsible grant writing experience; OR,
    • Master’s degree in related field; OR,
    • An equitable combination of education and progressively responsible grant writing experience.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Work experience in higher education or public sector environment.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and requirements that govern grants.
    • Ability to respond effectively to complex inquiries from grantors and regulatory agencies.
    • Demonstrated capacity to frame complex situations and present options.
    • Strong project management and time management skills; highly organized and detail-oriented
    • Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the community.
    • Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC.
    • Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships.
    • Ability to follow and issue directions.
    • Demonstrated professional presentation, written communication, diplomacy, customer service, management skills, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
    • Skill and ability to operate current technology including knowledge of database systems and technologies that manage grant programs.
    • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
    • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
    • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
    • Ability to respond appropriately in the event of an emergency.
    • This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
