EHR Project Manager, Sr. is responsible for the coordination and completion of complex projects involving the planning, design, and implementation of EHR (electronic health record) software applications. Oversees all aspects of projects. Being an EHR Project Manager, Sr. sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of project. Builds and maintains working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved in the projects. Additionally, EHR Project Manager, Sr. resolves any development issues or team member performance issues. Prepares project status reports. Requires Epic, Cerner, or similar product certification. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Requires EPIC Certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The EHR Project Manager, Sr. manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an EHR Project Manager, Sr. typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent and three years related experience.  Must possess sufficient educational background and/or experience to conduct clinical applications analysis and/or programming of intermediate to complex systems, analysis of clinical workflows, and system adoption strategies.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    For positions on the Revenue Cycle team, experience with patient billing, medical coding, or medical billing systems is preferred.
    Relevant application certifications.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    This position is responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, optimization, maintenance, and support of intermediate to highly complex clinical systems in compliance with all applicable regulations and organizational policies.  Clinical applications include any software application used in support of the clinical enterprise including patient registration, patient billing, clinical documentation utilized in the ambulatory and inpatient settings, as well as applications for specific medical specialties such as, but not limited to, Radiology, Pathology, Oncology, Transplant, and Cardiology.  Other responsibilities include providing intermediate analysis and documentation, formulating logical statements of business and management problems to develop requirements for configuration of clinical applications, and providing solutions to intermediate to complex problems utilizing more efficient operational procedures, workflows, and information technology solutionsThis role also requires an understanding of the assigned system applications, functions, and features end-users would experience.   

    MAJOR DUTIES/CRITICAL TASKS:

    • Solves intermediate to complex technical issues in complex clinical applications.
    • Applies intermediate to advanced analysis skills to create and maintain clinical application documentation.
    • Identifies, designs and verifies solutions with other clinical applications.
    • Manages multiple activities within the scope of project; may function as project lead.
    • Designs and/or modifies clinical plans and procedures, as appropriate, and follows project plans to ensure project success.
    • Prepares detailed specifications from which intermediate to complex clinical programs will be configured.
    • Assists in coordinating implementation of intermediate to complex clinical systems.
    • Assists in the cost justification of clinical system changes and information technology resources.
    • Proactively partners with customers to understand and meet their needs.
    • Researches new technological solutions, verifies, and applies solutions of others and self.
    • Serves as a role model to EHR Clinical Applications Analysts.
    • Applies analysis and documentation to support and understand problems.
    • Understands components within a complex clinical system, as well as interaction with other intermediate to complex clinical applications.

    • Demonstrates awareness and understanding of institution, department, and customer mission and goals.
    • Provides status updates to project leadership.
    • Acts as a project leader interacting with executive sponsors, ensuring project charter and status updates are delivered at specified intervals to IS and other UTMB leadership.
    • Serves as liaison with vendors and/or business partners and their products and services.
    • Participates as a team member.
    • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
    • Performs related duties as assigned.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    For positions on the Imaging team, PACS administrator experience, Radiology Technician license are preferred.
    For positions on the Interface team, experience with HL7 interfaces, and/or certifications in Bridges or Cloverleaf are preferred.
    For positions on the Revenue Cycle team, experience with patient billing, medical coding, or medical billing systems is preferred.
    Relevant application certifications.
    Previous direct patient care experience.

    SALARY RANGE:

    Actual salary commensurate with experience.
