Summary: This role is integral to the company, providing legal advice, risk management, and support across all aspects of our business, with a particular focus on contracts, compliance, and regulatory matters related to the transportation industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following—other duties as assigned:

1. Provide legal guidance and support to various departments within the company, including operations, sales, logistics, and human resources.
2. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including service agreements, vendor contracts, employment agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
3. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations affecting the trucking and logistics industry.
4. Manage litigation and disputes, coordinating with external counsel as necessary.
5. Advise on corporate governance, business strategy, and risk management.
6. Keep abreast of legislation and regulatory changes that may affect the company and its operations.
7. Support the company’s M&A activities, including due diligence, negotiation, and integration.
8. Provide training and guidance to employees on legal and compliance matters. 

Education and/or Experience: Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state.

10 years of legal experience, preferably in litigation and/or within the transportation industry.

Strong knowledge of contract law.

Systems Training: Must have strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite. Experience with As400 is an asset.

Special Skills: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving  Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. High level of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly.
