Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compelling content for written copy and/or websites and other online communications media. Being an Editor ensures that all content meets required and accepted format and standards. Evaluates content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Additionally, Editor may coordinate with creative team to produce final drafts. Requires a bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Editor occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Role DescriptionTEKsystems is currently recruiting a Copy Editor responsible for meticulously reviewing copy, noting errors such as punctuation, spelling, and word usage, and knows how to check statements for accuracy or potential plagiarism. The ideal candidate must be proficient in basic and advanced grammar rules and understand how they are used within our style and brand guidelines. They must communicate effectively with the writers and other staff of the Marketing Department to ensure documents meet all company guidelines and must collaborate with others to advance the goals of the organization.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Review documents (for both interactive and print) for grammar, spelling and style
    • Fact-check dates and other statements for accuracy
    • Confirm all submitted writing is original
    • Ensure text meets tone and character count outlined by company policies
    • Make corrections and suggest edits to the document
    • Be flexible and willing to be part of a team
    • Manage changing priorities and meet tight deadlines
    • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Education/Abilities/Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree and 2 years professional experience in proofreading/copyediting
    • Professional written and verbal communication skills
    • AP Style experience preferred
    • Fact-checking and research expertise
    • Excellent grammar and communication skills
    • Proficiency in basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Office, including Word and Power Point
    • Detail-oriented, highly organized
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
