Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compelling content for written copy and/or websites and other online communications media. Being an Editor ensures that all content meets required and accepted format and standards. Evaluates content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Additionally, Editor may coordinate with creative team to produce final drafts. Requires a bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Editor occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Kama‘aina Kids, a leading non-profit organization in the education and childcare sector, is seeking an experienced Freelance Writer and Editor to collaborate on an exciting project. As part of our commitment to excellence, we are creating comprehensive Policies and Procedure Manuals for various areas within our organization, including Preschool, School Age, and Corporate Operations.

    Location: Kailua, Hawaii (Hybrid Remote Option Possible)

    Role Overview:

    As a Freelance Writer / Editor, you will play a crucial role in standardizing our processes and enhancing efficiency. Your deep understanding of policy and procedure writing, coupled with your ability to translate complex information into a standardized format, will be invaluable. You’ll work closely with internal managers, executives, and key personnel to ensure the successful completion of this project.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Policy and Procedure Writing:
    • Craft clear, concise, and effective policies and procedures that align with industry standards.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather relevant information.
    • Reporting and Documentation Skills:
    • Compile data, analyze trends, and create informative reports.
    • Document processes accurately and comprehensively.
    • Process Streamlining:
    • Identify areas for improvement and streamline existing processes.
    • Propose efficient workflows to enhance productivity.
    • Standardization and Efficiency Improvement:
    • Ensure consistency across all manuals.
    • Implement best practices to optimize efficiency.
    • Information Organization:
    • Gather information from various sources (interviews, research, etc.).
    • Organize content logically and cohesively.
    • Word Styles and Templates:
    • Create user-friendly Word styles and templates for consistent formatting.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience: Proven experience in policy and procedure writing.
    • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Organizational Skills: Highly organized and able to meet deadlines.
    • Collaboration: Comfortable working with internal managers and executives.
    • Adaptability: Ability to adapt writing style to different audiences.
    • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Word and document formatting.

    Compensation:

    Negotiable, but no less than $25 per hour.
