Being an Editor ensures that all content meets required and accepted format and standards. Evaluates content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Additionally, Editor may coordinate with creative team to produce final drafts. Requires a bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Editor occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • POSITION: Online Editor   Tribune Publishing Company is seeking a person with journalism experience and internet knowhow for our newly created Online Editor position for our two newspapers, the Lewiston Tribune (lmtribune.com) and Moscow-Pullman Daily News (dnews.com). You will lead our efforts to keep our websites updated throughout the day, as well as posting on our social media accounts as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong journalism background, knowledge of social media and the flexibility to work irregular hours.   RESPONSIBILITIES:   * Optimizing our websites on a regular basis with strong headlines, photos, videos and presentation.   * Editing and posting online-first and breaking news items written by our staff, in coordination with the city editor, managing editor and reporting staff. The candidate must be able to maintain our high editorial standards by fact-checking, proofreading and, above all, avoiding legal jeopardy for our organization.   * When it comes to breaking news, the Online Editor should be able to do some writing and reporting, if the situation calls for it.   * Some content creation (photos, videos, stories), depending on the candidate’s area of expertise.   * Leading our social media efforts across all platforms. The focus will be driving traffic back to our website, but also creating compelling posts that will increase engagement on our social media accounts.   * Monitoring audience engagement metrics and used feedback to maximize the performance of our content.   * Keeping track of analytics and preparing reports on our numbers to share with staff members.   * Innovation: Stay informed on emerging trends and technologies in digital media and seek ways to innovate our approach so we stay ahead of our competitors.     QUALIFICATIONS:   * Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field.   * Three-plus year of experience in digital journalism, preferably in a newsroom environment.   * Strong news judgment and editorial skills, with a keen eye for storytelling and visual presentation.   * Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), web analytics tools and SEO best practices.   * Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-drive environment.   * Knowledge of north central Idaho and southeastern Washington issues, politics and culture preferred.   * Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed.     BENEFITS:   * The position offers competitive pay along with a generous benefits package, 401K and a quality health care insurance plan.
