Our local newspaper is seeking a well-rounded copy editor with a strong attention to detail to oversee all copy that goes into the news and feature sections, online editions and special sections.

Responsibilities include:

• Occasional sports proofing and some daily page design
• Posting story links on our social media page
• Rewriting reader submitted material in preparation for printing
• Overseeing the opinion page and letters to the editor
• Other special projects and tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• Degree in Journalism, English or other related field OR equivalent experience
• Experience working on a newspaper a plus
• Established residency in Pennsylvania
• Knowledge of the local area
• Knowledge of Indesign and using social media
• Knowledge and use of AP Style
• Excellent Organizational Skills
• Good Math Skills
• Ability to meet deadlines while exercising patience
• Ability to keep up with current events and local government news
• Ability to recognize problems and inconsistencies within stories
• Ability to write headlines
