Education Director provides supervision and direction of nursing education programs. Develops and implements course content and curriculums to train and update skills and knowledge of in-service nurses. Being a Education Director remains current and knowledgeable regarding federal and state regulations. Provides oversight and day-to-day guidance to staff. Additionally, Education Director typically requires a master's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN) License. Typically reports to senior management. The Education Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Education Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     EVALUATION: State and/or Local Evaluation Protocol
    JOB GOAL:

    • To provide leadership and supervision of the school system’s accountability programs and to maximize student achievement through the development and administration of programs that meet student needs

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s degree in education from an accredited university or college
    • Valid Alabama Administrative Certificate
    • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience public education including experience in accountability, administration, or a related field
    • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
    • Superior leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and ability to be an instructional leader across multiple settings and to work collaboratively as a team member with large and/or diverse groups
    • Proficiency in oral and written communication with the ability to produce and lead presentations through various data sources
    • Punctuality and regular attendance

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Collaborate with and monitor school leaders in the development and implementation of Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs)
    • Represent the school system at state, regional or other meetings as directed
    • Assist the principals and school teams in the development and implementation of PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support)
    • Attend Parent and Family Engagement meetings (school-wide and district) and provide parent training on attendance, truancy, and PBIS
    • Attend professional development opportunities designed as At-Risk programs to seek proactive approach to providing interventions to students identified as at-risk for academic performance, attendance, and/or behavior in the school setting
    • Coordinate and supervise a program to identify students who are at-risk of academic failure and/or dropping out of school due to academic performance, attendance, and/or behavior, including PST and RtI meetings
    • Provide professional development to school staff regarding the intervention at-risk plan
    • Assist with implementation of evidence-based interventions for schools to support the identified needs of individual students regarding grades, attendance, and/or behavior
    • Serve as a liaison to involve parents of identified students and coordinate intervention methods and/or programs to assist them in working with their children
    • Maintain precise data on all identified students and effectiveness of prevention efforts
    • Attend and/or facilitate school-level attendance meetings with parents at all schools
    • Provide documentation regarding at-risk services provided to student and family prior to court referral
    • Attend all court sessions of parents who have been referred to Family Court
    • Provide court-assigned interventions to parents of identified students
    • Provide schools with support, referral, and follow-up services for targeted students
    • Serve as liaison between home and school in helping seek desired outcomes for identified at-risk students
    • Coordinate school accreditation process and compliance monitoring
    • Serve as lead contact for out-of-district students and families
    • Supervise nursing, counseling, and library services throughout the district
    • Serve as lead contact for Title IV services including, but not limited to, annual training and services related to Safe & Drug Free Schools, Suicide Prevention (Jason Flatt Act), Sexual Abuse Prevention (Erin’s Law), and Mandatory Reporting
    • Serve as lead contact for SIR report and science lab safety
    • Serve as Title IX compliance officer
    • Oversee the school registration process for the school district, including training registration personnel at each school
    • Develop and implement comprehensive, district-wide school attendance and discipline plans, including annual review of the code of conduct
    • Provide oversight and administration of the services provided by the school district to homeless students
    • Supervise and plan staffing for the alternative school program, including academics and behavioral programs for students
    • Collaborate with school-level administrators and teachers to ensure a successful transition from alternative settings to classrooms
    • Arrange Disciplinary Review Committee (DRC) meetings to conduct due process hearings for student suspensions and expulsions that are recommended to the committee by the school principal
    • Present DRC recommendations to the Superintendent for further action by the Board
    • Maintain records of all discipline cases, suspensions, expulsions, and bus conduct
    • Serve as a mentor to school-level administrators
    • Perform any other duties as assigned
