    The Forward Foundation was founded to increase the participation of working-age people (those under the age of 50) in their Granite State communities through public policy research, education, and leadership growth. Working-age people are vastly underrepresented as leaders in local elected offices, community organizations, and state government in New Hampshire. The Forward Foundation seeks to empower this population in their communities by identifying, educating, and supporting them so they will grow as leaders and participate more fully in our democracy.

    Overview of Role

    The Forward Foundation is seeking applicants for a full-time Education and Coalition Manager to lead the organization’s work to raise the voices of Granite Staters of diverse backgrounds. The ideal candidate will share the mission of The Forward Foundation in spotlighting important information in civic, democratic, and voter education. This person should have experience working with partner organizations, organizing training programs and public events, and community education. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational and communication skills and be able to develop and maintain an environment of trust and inclusion. This position reports to the Program Director.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with partner organizations and Work with partner organizations and stakeholders to build program plans to further The Forward Foundation’s goals
    • Spearhead coalition building around key long-term issues among elected leaders and partners; subsequently manage these partners and partnerships
    • Guide elected leaders through the “political third space” by engaging with them on key issues, both one-on-one and in groups
    • Employ community organizing tactics to grow The Forward Foundation’s membership and volunteer base
    • Including running TFF’s poll worker program
    • Engage in digital organizing for increased organizational reach
    • Lead and execute educational and training sessions for the public and for state and local lawmakers
    • Continue digital education around long-term issue priorities including democracy related issues
    • Build in-person and online events for education around key issues
    • Design and execute issue education campaigns including but not limited to voter education with support from The Forward Foundation staff
    • Collaborate with communications department to provide organic educational content
    • Represent The Forward Foundation in community and coalition events

    Required Qualifications

    • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the organization
    • 3 years experience in advocacy or electoral campaigns, policy, organizing, advocacy training, nonprofit project management or similar
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to interact with stakeholders and volunteers with professionalism and maintain an environment of trust and inclusion for program participants and stakeholders.
    • Strong public speaking and public leadership skills
    • Strong project management and organizational skills to lead and report on results of self-directed projects in a fast-paced environment
    • Demonstrated self-awareness and reliability in a remote work environment
    • Experience building or contributing to a team culture that fosters creativity, collaboration, communication, and responsiveness
    • Proficiency in GoogleSuite, general computer skills, basic data analysis

    Helpful Qualifications

    • Access to own computer equipment, cell phone, and remote office equipment
    • Interest in and familiarity with, or willingness to learn about, the subject areas these projects cover (legislative reform, healthy democracy)
    • Bilingual
    • Experience working with New Hampshire State House or State House candidates
    • Experience teaching, training, facilitating or designing learning opportunities.

    Salary and Benefits

    This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range between $55,000 - $65,000 per year or commensurate with experience. The Forward Foundation values our employees and offers a competitive compensation package including health care; a retirement plan match; a professional development stipend and opportunities for continued learning; flexibility to manage personal commitments; and 31 days of paid time off including vacation time, a paid week off between Christmas and New Year's Day, and ten state and federal holidays.

    Location

    The Forward Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating across New Hampshire and operates under a resource sharing agreement with our 501(c)4 organization, 603 Forward.

    All employees work remotely from home offices and participate in occasional team collaboration opportunities in Concord or Manchester. The Forward Foundation maintains a focus on equity and inclusion by encouraging staff to seek out opportunities to meet community members where they are individually or in group settings through strategic travel to various regions of New Hampshire.

    Half of this position is geographically focused in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire in and around the Great Bay Estuary (Dover, NH), and periodic organizing of and participation at in-person meetings in this region will be expected.
