Description
The Education Manager is responsible for the complete management and operation of the education department, program development aspects. The Education Manager maintains a competitive educational environment with programs that meet county and state standards.
Essential Duties
Develop new programs, including special events, open houses and seasonal promotions.
Development and research of creative, new educational programs and curriculum's, as needed.
Supervision of all (existing and future) educational programs, including field study excursion (field trips), seasonal and overnight camps, jungle outreach program, girl/boy scout programs, walking tour program, professional development- teacher programs and any upcoming programs.
Creating and managing of department budget, including individual program budgets and special event budgets.
Design and implement interpretation structures throughout the park (guest to educator interactions, signs, etc.)
Networking within the educational community.
Is responsible for Supervision of all education staff.
Supportive Functions/Teamwork Skills:
The Education Manager will be responsible for motivating, managing, and training of the education staff.
The Education Manager should pose problem solving skill.
Must be a creative thinker; always coming up with new idea to promote their Department.
Safety and Security:
Responsible for creating and maintaining a physically and mentally safe working environment for all staff
Responsible for teaching staff emergency procedures
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills and organizational skills required
Understands and able to develop and implement curriculum
Able to perform multiple tasks
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, Microsoft Word, Outlook and other computer programs necessary to perform the duties of the job.
Physical Demands
This position requires long hours of standing, walking, bending, and squatting.
It is a must that this person is physically able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds or more.
This position may require you to work in adverse weather conditions like rain, cold and the summer heat
Qualifications
Relevant 4-year degree required or experience
Minimum 2 years of educational or animal experience a plus
Supervisory experience required
