Energy Education Specialist to Support Omaha Public Power District Programming
The National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project seeks a part-time energy education specialist to support programming for Omaha Public Power District. This position will facilitate energy activities and lessons in out of school time educational settings on request and will support special events for outreach and community engagement. The position will report to The NEED Project’s Program Director.
General Qualifications:
- Academic Expectations – BS/MS in education, STEM, or other related field
- 3 years classroom or non-formal education experience
- Must be willing to travel (local) mileage stipend will be provided
- Valid NE driver’s license and insurance
- Superior written and verbal skills
- Demonstrate understanding of the K-12 education community in NE
- Superior IT skills – Microsoft Office portfolio (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook)
- Must be able to plan and carry out small and large group presentations
- Demonstrates effective communication skills with K-12 students and adult learners
- Must possess solid leadership and interpersonal skills
- Shows attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and remotely
- Ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects
- Ability to lift and transport materials of at least 50 pounds
- Use and ownership of personal computing equipment, cell phone and printer - reimbursement may be possible
- Completion of state and federal background check and completion of training for working with minors
Function and Responsibilities of Identified Energy Education Specialist
- Coordinate student energy education sessions with schools/organizations that express interest in the program
- Travel to and carry out energy education programming in the designated OPPD service territory
- Maintain ongoing communication with the OPPD Program Manager and NEED Program Director to ensure that high quality energy education programs are carried out and follow guidelines
- Work collaboratively to plan student outreach programs and deliver services to OPPD schools and youth organizations
- Attend and participate in development opportunities, as well as meetings with OPPD
- Complete all required data collection and reports as requested
Work Schedule
- Energy Education Specialist will work with schools/ youth organizations to schedule programming
- Programming is anticipated to take place out of school time hours – after school, weekends, and during the summer
- Estimated 15 hours per month during the school year/ 30 hours per month during the summer
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 10 per week
