Job Summary
This position provides instructional and program support within SkillTrain’s GED and ESL programming. Regular tasks include small-group and one-on-one instruction, academic advising/counseling, student assessment, and data management. This position serves both in-person students and remote learners. This position also focuses on ELL education and providing support to the refugee population and adult ELL learners
Job Duties:
• Provides research-based instruction using a variety of instructional strategies and tools, including digital learning resources; administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic assessments, including TABE and/or CASAS and GED Ready; uses formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and to drive instruction.
• Provides academic advising/counseling to assist students in developing and achieving educational goals; makes appropriate referrals to other services when applicable.
• Maintains knowledge of program regulations, policies, and procedures; collects, manages, and maintains comprehensive program/student data/records; performs accurate, timely data entry for student and program accountability and improvement.
• Participates actively in student recruitment, retention, and follow-up; promotes adult education services through community involvement; participates in required professional development activities; serves on assigned committees and workgroups.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Math Education, Special Education, Social Work, ESL or another related field.
• Two (2) years related work experience or equivalent for experience only.
• Must score within NRS Level 6 on the 11/12 TABE A or within three months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Current teaching certification in the content area of instruction is preferred.
