    An ESS library aide plays an integral role in assisting in maintaining an organized, attractive, functional library media center conducive to an integrated instructional program.


    Responsibilities


    • Process new materials/magazines, enter data into computer, and prepare books and videos for circulation and/or shelving; prepare a list of new materials and assist in maintaining an inventory.
    • Oversee the circulation desk in the absence of the Librarian, which includes checking materials in/out, collecting fines, reserving materials and printing reserve notices, looking up titles, printing overdue fines/notices, creating library cards, signing passes, collecting passes, adding new students to system, deleting discarded materials, etc.
    • Distribute overdue fines/notices throughout the building to appropriate students.
    • Ensure returned materials are placed in proper order on shelves and maintained in an orderly fashion.
    • Assist students and staff with locating materials for use and maintaining a neat, clean environment.
    • Responsible for collecting and distributing materials to staff for classroom use.
    • Oversee incoming communications such as phone calls, e-mail, and U.S. mail.
    • Utilize office equipment such as fax machine, laminator, computer hardware, copier, binder, and audiovisual equipment; ensure ample supply of paper is available for use.
    • Oversee questions/problems regarding video system.
    • Prepare bulletin board, which includes clipping newspaper articles and posting on board.
    • Organize graded student work.
    • Maintain publisher's catalog file.
    • Prepare requisitions, memos, letters, and bibliographies.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Librarian.


    Qualifications


    • 36 College Credits or the optional 20 hour online training
    • Substitute Teacher Certification
    • Expanded Criminal History Check with Child Maltreatment
    • MACHS background/fingerprint check
