The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.
The Southeast State Correctional Complex is seeking applicants for a Corrections Education Specialist II at the institution. This position provides targeted instruction to adult inmates within the correctional facility.
Education is also shown to improve inmates' chances of obtaining employment after release. Obtaining employment among inmates post-release who participated in either academic or vocational corrections education is 13 percent higher than the odds for those who did not participate.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide targeted instruction in grade level appropriate curriculum content to inmate students within the correctional setting resulting in skills necessary to secure, retain, and become successful in business and industry upon release.
- Advise students and provide support regarding their individual vocational and academic goals.
- Monitor classroom to include discipline and safety and security of students and staff.
- Maintain and produce accurate student and school records and reports regarding student assessments and progress.
- Monitor program effectiveness.
