Conductive Education Center Fl in Winter Park, FL is looking for professional individuals to assist with daily programming, as an Adult Care Specialist. We are located on 931 South Semoran Blvd Suite #220. Our ideal candidate is attentive, punctual, and engaged.
The Adult Care Specialist is hired to enhance the quality/consistency of programs and services at CECO’s adult day program. The following is a list of specific areas of responsibility for this position. This list may not be all inclusive.
Position Goal
The Adult Care Specialist works with individuals with Cerebral Palsy and other motor disabilities, under the direction and supervision of designated instructors to provide skill training, recreational activities, activities of daily living, to include but not limited to, assistance with feeding, personal care/hygiene, hydration, range of motion, and mobility.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
Physical/mental stamina with ability to regularly and/or repetitively lift 60 lbs. or more. Consistent ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, carry, push or pull objects, equipment and or students. Ability to perceive/discriminate sounds in the environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The Adult Care Specialist is capable of receiving information, clarifying if necessary, retaining and applying information about clients to facilitate their active participation in programming. In addition, the Adult Care Specialist is capable of demonstrating CE techniques and methods. The ability to demonstrate self-motivation and leadership in order to complete assigned tasks is expected. Maintaining a positive attitude, as reflected in words, actions and engagements with students, families, staff and others is vital. Perform emergency CPR and First Aid when necessary.
Reports to: Designated Instructors. Program Directors may provide guidance and directives as needed in the absence of the instructors.
Performance Responsibilities
Setting up the classroom and other rooms commonly used during the program (i.e. lunchroom, hallways, and bathrooms), readying any materials for Instructors, as directed.
Clean the interior of the program location by performing common cleaning tasks including (but not limited to) sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, laundry, and dishes.
Provide guidance, assist with, or attend to the individual personal care needs of the client which may include (but is not limited to), feeding, toileting, changing, and transferring.
Assist clients individually or in groups, with tasks or lesson assignments for reinforcing learning concepts under the direction of the Instructor.
Monitor clients in a variety of settings to ensure their continuous safety and active participation,
Immediately notify the Instructor and/or Program Director of any possible dangerous or unsafe conditions.
Report all negligence, wrong-doing and/or incompetence to Instructor and/or Program Directors.
Utilize proactive/ appropriate individual and group behavior management techniques conducive to an effective learning environment, including positive redirection, strategy implementation and following individual behavior plans, as directed by the Instructor.
Prepare and/or ensure the completion of required, client/classroom-related paperwork as directed (i.e. daily sheets, incident reports, staff issued handouts, etc.).
Attend staff meetings, trainings, and off site functions (i.e. field trips, fundraising or community events) as required.
Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a professional appearance, demeanor and attitude
Evaluation
Actively participate in regularly scheduled coaching/supervisory instruction.
Demonstrate ability to accept and profit from supervision/constructive feedback, as evidenced by attitude, cooperativeness, initiative and commitment to development of own skills.
Actively participate in personal, annual evaluation process to be provided by the assigned instructors.
