  • Summary:
    Provide mentor coaching, new employee training, and overall support and follow-up with teachers. Ensure that teachers are getting the direction needed to successfully teach and implement the assigned curriculum and practices which promote high-quality learning and school readiness. The position will observe, model, and assess the classroom teacher and child interactions, and work directly with young children and families in the implementation of this program.
    Essential Functions:
    • Conducts classroom observations to determine support needs.
    • Submits coaching plans and logs to Education Manager.
    • Follows up on individual requests from teachers or Center Managers for mentor-coaching services.
    • Provides classroom-based coaching support to teachers following the Practice-Based coaching cycle of goal setting, action planning, focused observation, and reflection/feedback.
    • Develops a trusting and reflective professional partnership with teachers and Education Team.
    • Assists teachers with lesson planning and room arrangement to meet the fidelity of the Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline.
    • Improves teachers' ability to observe children, record anecdotal notes and respond to child progress toward meeting widely-held expectations on Teaching Strategies Gold. Maintains Interrater Reliability.
    • Improves teachers' instructional strategies to address better the needs of all students, including children with disabilities and English Language Learners, in a nurturing and responsive learning environment.
    • Supports Multi-Classroom Leaders in facilitating monthly PLC meetings to provide opportunities for peer coaching, including data reflection, goal setting, shared strategies, peer observations, and feedback.
    • Trains new teaching staff and supports as needed while they gain knowledge of their role and the responsibilities of their position.
    • Aggregates and analyzes child data and observations to determine priority areas of focus.
    • Participates in professional development opportunities, including CLASS reliability and QCIT, Practice-Based Coaching, Creative Curriculum Coaching to Fidelity, Conscious Discipline, and Harvard Manage Mentor Leadership training.
    • Assists in providing professional development for teaching staff.
    • Establishes and maintains clear communication and cooperative working relationships with various educators and groups.
    • Prepares reports and maintains program files and record-keeping systems for accountability.
    • Participates in monthly Education team meetings and reflective supervision with the Education Manager.
    • Participates in School Readiness Team meetings and committee meetings.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    • Adheres to the policy and procedure for Active Supervision.
    • Adheres to the Code of Conduct at all times
    Position Qualifications:
    Required
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline, such as human services or early childhood education
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between various agency sites and community resources.
    Preferred
    • Birth-K License
    • 2 years of experience in Head Start and Early Head Start organization
    • Bi-lingual in Spanish

    • Ability to work outside regular business hours to meet Agency needs
    Expected Hours of Work:
    • Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, from 8:00-5:00pm
    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
    • Maintains physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: walking, bending, stretching, lifting, standing or sitting for extended periods, and operating assigned equipment.
