    • You will control and operate electrical power generating and distributing equipment.
    • You will maintain logs and assign numbered locks and tags.
    • You will respond to alarm signals, audio and visual, to evaluate trouble and dispatch workmen to correct conditions.
    • You will operate a central switchboard to actuate remotely controlled circuit breakers, transformers, and switches to regulate and maintain correct voltage on distribution lines.

    You may be designated as ALPHA personnel and required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during and/or after special emergency situations, such as, but not limited to, destructive weather, disasters or periods of an increased security threat.

    This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

    A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

    PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity. Requires auditory acuity to detect noises indicating defective equipment. Requires color discrimination to determine color-coded electric circuits. Required lifting and carrying weighs averaging 40 pounds. Work requires kneeling, stooping, standing, climbing, crawling, and crouching. Must be able to climb and work from ladders and bucket trucks.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, regardless of weather conditions. Constant noise and rotating machinery are typical working conditions. Exposed to high voltage at times, heat and cold; frequently required to work at high levels and below ground. Considerable climbing of stairs and ladders, poles, etc. Exposed to "hot" work both high and low voltage. Working under above conditions, employees are exposed to shock, burns, cuts, bruises, broken bones, etc.
