Electric Motor Assembler assembles electric motor components and subassemblies. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being an Electric Motor Assembler may be required to be certified in an area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Electric Motor Assembler relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Position Summary:
Troubleshoot and repair various electrical mechanical rotating equipment based on your skillset and mechanical aptitude.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
o 3 phase motors
o DC motors
o Single phase motors
o Magnetic clutch units
o Gearboxes/Transmissions
o Generators and/or Alternators
o Compressors and Lobe Blowers
§ Motors - ABB, Baldor/Reliance, Ideal, Louis Allis, Siemens, US
§ Generators - ABB, Siemens, EMD of GM, Vestas
§ Gearboxes – Reliance, Cone Drive, Eurodrive
§ Compressors – Sutor Built, Carrier, Trane
o Multi-Meter – Used for checking continuity , capacitor testing, diode testing
o Megohm Meter - Used to test insulation resistance
o Surge Tester – Used to detect insulation breakdowns between circuits.
o Hi-pot Tester – Used to detect amount of current leakage through insulation
o Motor Test Panels - Testing apparatus at rated voltages for proper operation before and after repair
o Using IRD and /or Dynamics balancing machines.
