    This position is located at the San Diego Investigations Office in San Diego.

    In accordance with Penal Code Section 13651, the incumbent shall conduct their duties with an emphasis on community interaction and collaborative problem solving. Pursuant to and under authorization of Vehicle Code section 1655 and Penal Code section 830.3, and under the direction of the Deputy Chief, Field Investigations Branch, the Supervising Investigator II, DMV, is responsible for the following:

    In accordance with Penal Code Section 13651, the incumbent shall conduct their duties with an emphasis on community interaction and collaborative problem solving. Pursuant to and under authorization of Vehicle Code section 1655 and Penal Code section 830.3, and under the direction of the Deputy Chief, Field Investigations Branch, the Supervising Investigator II, DMV, is responsible for the following:

    This is a Peace Officer position subject to P.O.S.T. requirements. Performing in a law enforcement capacity, the incumbent; conducts highly confidential and complex criminal investigations pertaining to internal security, employee misconduct, document integrity, public funds, burglary of offices, tampering with official records and systems, and other special cases of a criminal nature; participates as a DMV law enforcement representative in multi-agency criminal investigations, and assignments involving Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Department of Homeland Security, and other law enforcement or allied agencies; provides direct criminal investigative testimony, witness, advisory and services to State and Federal courts, other law enforcement or allied agencies, and DMV legal staff; performs a full range of peace officer duties and responsibilities in the accomplishment of their assignments in accordance with the California Penal Code, section 830.3 such as effecting and assisting in arrests of criminal suspects, issuing misdemeanor and registration violation citations, serves and assists in search warrants; and performs other duties as required.

    Working Conditions

    Work both indoors and outdoors. While indoors, the temperature and humidity is reasonably controlled, but while out of doors, the employee is exposed to climatic conditions. May occasionally be exposed to toxic materials or chemicals. While driving, the employee is exposed to dust and fumes.
