    PGE's Trading Strategy & Analytics team is seeking a RA Operations Analyst to join our dynamic team. PGE is an active participant in the development of the Western Resource Adequacy Program (WRAP), administered by the Western Power Plan (WPP). WRAP is a voluntary program intended to enhance reliability for the participating entities across its footprint. PGE is preparing to fully implement business processes, tools and technologies necessary to fully operate in the program.

    In this role, you will oversee preparation and submission of the Operations program data submissions to WRAP program operator daily and hourly each day. The purpose of the submission is to enable regional calculation of show and long position and the sharing results.

    You will:

    • Be responsible for developing and maintaining the list of SMEs who compile data for the WRAP Operations Program Data Submissions.

    • Oversees preparation and submittal of the WRAP Operations Program Data Submissions to the WRAP Program Operator daily and hourly each day. The purpose of these submissions is to enable regional calculation of short and long positions and the sharing of surplus energy.

    • Ensures that data submitted to WRAP Program Operator is accurately reflected in the WRAP metrics for the Day-Ahead and Real Time portfolio handoffs.

    • Understand, keep up to date with the required data and submission process as described and modified in the Operations Program Procedure.

    • Represent PGE and monitors and participates in WRAP design working groups as technical expert, provides input to the WPP stakeholder process, identifies corresponding changes required to bring PGE tariffs and internal business practices into alignment.

    • Provides analytical support for day-ahead and real-time trading operations and provide analytical support to settlement function in WRAP.

    • Serves as a local system administrator (LSA) for WRAP program.

    You will be someone with:

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and related experience preferred.

    • Typically, five or more years in the energy industry or a related field. Experience in market trading and asset optimization.

    • Knowledge of electric industry power operations, including wholesale power trading, thermal and hydro power plant operations.

    • Experience in analyzing trading opportunities and trading strategies in one of the following markets WECC/CAISO/SPP/ERCOT/MISO is highly desired.

    • Knowledge of energy market derivatives (e.g., forwards, options, swaps), including market pricing and valuation principles.

    • Ability to think across the three affected functional areas (Power Operations, Balancing Authority, Plant Operation, Rates and Regulatory and Engineering).

    • Ability to effectively communicate the impact of complex market rules to executives and general managers.

    • Ability to problem solve and obtain results within time constraints.

    • Ability to write clearly and concisely to document processes and procedures as well as communicating analytical results to a wide audience ranging from traders to executives.

    • Ability to prioritized tasks across multiple areas and help team members with prioritization.

    • 3-5 years of utility and/or traded market experience.

    • Advanced knowledge of the electric utility industry and electric energy markets, including trading, scheduling procedures and/or state and federal policies and regulations and underlying physical infrastructure and networks.

    • Advanced knowledge of FERC regulatory and compliance requirements

    • Advanced statistical and numerical analysis skills.

    • Advanced computer skills in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) is required and analytics programs Advanced knowledge of programming languages such as VB/VBA, C, Perl, MATLAB, Mathematica, Python, Java, SQL and other analytical tools can be beneficial.

    • Advanced analytical thinking skills, business acumen, decision-making skills, interpersonal skills.

    • Advanced presentation/facilitation skills.

    • Advanced organization and prioritization skills.

    • Basic team building skills.

    • Advanced written and oral communication skills.

    $81,450.00 - $160,500.00
