Anticipated starting salary is between $110,364 - $129,840 depending on qualifications.
This is a professional, supervisory position with significant discretion and judgment in managing the safe and efficient movement of cargo through the Northwest Seaport Alliance. This position plans, evaluates, organizes, and leads breakbulk operations and rail operations, which includes planning and coordinating labor and equipment requirements at marine terminal facilities to ensure resources are available for efficient operations. This position is also responsible for maintaining communications with cargo and ocean carrier customers and their agents, U.S. Customs officials, USDA, USCG, Tugboat operations, the Port’s customer service and maintenance departments; for performance of supervisory duties and responsibilities; and for cost analysis and rate development support. A professional degree and substantial experience in logistics or supply chain management is required.
Bachelor’s degree in logistics transportation, supply chain management, or maritime transportation management or a related field is required. An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
A minimum of five (5) years as a stevedore, maritime agent, or similar position in operations or in the transportation field, as well as five (5) years supervisory experience and knowledge of hazardous materials regulations is required.
Experience working with cargo related labor force and shipping agent is required. Experience at a port authority is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate must have professional level knowledge and experience in marine logistics, cargo movement, and cargo management. Knowledge of computer technology, operations and hazardous materials regulations is required. The ability to work as part of team is also required. The ability to work with labor is also essential.
