  • Summary We are seeking an experienced individual to fill the role of Senior Electrical Controls Engineer with GWI.  This position reports directly to the Controls Division Manager.  The controls division is relatively new at GWI, so this is an opportunity to become part of the foundation of a successful organization as it continues to expand.  We are looking for someone to be intrinsically self‐motivated, a strong team player, a resourceful thinker, and hungry to help make GWI the authority on pump station controls in Georgia.    GWI offers a competitive salary and benefits package for this position including medical, dental, vision, long and short‐term disability insurances as well as a FSA, HAS, and a 401k plan.  An office, company laptop, and all job‐related equipment are included.  This position comes with opportunity for advancement within the Controls Division as it grows and thrives. Responsibilities Managing and taking ownership of projects in which you are assigned, including full design, support, testing, ensuring all parts are included, etc. Designing control panels using AutoCAD Electrical, including wiring schematics, panel layouts, field wiring charts, etc. Programming PLC’s for control panel jobs. Testing panels after they are built for proper and expected operation. Engineering control panel retrofits and “red‐lining” or creating retrofit drawings.  This can include, but is not limited to, the following situations: Replacing old pump station controllers Installing new power monitoring equipment, new pump motor protection equipment, or new telemetry equipment. o Replacing starters, circuit breakers, and power wiring with larger equipment and conductors for upsizing pumps. Upgrading direct‐on‐line starters to soft starts or variable frequency drives.  Quoting new control panels and retrofit jobs (parts and labor). Providing controls‐related technical support or troubleshooting assistance over the phone to customers, salespeople, or our own field service personnel.  Reviewing submittals of control panels to ensure they are accurate and complete. Providing assistance with programming/commissioning variable frequency drives, soft starts, and pump station controllers. This position may require 10% travel for manufacturer training or customer site visits.  Requirements Although a minimum 5 years’ working experience in electrical controls/automation engineering is preferred, candidates with less experience who have a proven track record of the required skills coupled with the right attitude and technical aptitude will be considered. A 4‐year degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology is preferred, but appropriate working experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. Candidates should have a strong working knowledge of electricity/electrical concepts and industrial motor control components and systems.  Control systems as they pertain to pump stations is a bonus. Experience designing control panels. Ability to design/create an electrical drawing package using AutoCAD Electrical. PLC programming using Allen Bradley RSLogix or some other PLC software. Experience programming VFD’s and soft starts. Experience with creating and reviewing submittal documentation. Experience with reading bid job specifications and quoting control panels per specs. Experience with UL 508A and 698A requirements. Adequate phone and interpersonal communication skills are a must
