Description

The Electrical Controls Engineer will be required to work on projects ranging from basic control cabinets to controls for complete safety and automation systems through all phases of the project including conceptualization, estimate, design, integration, installation and implementation. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the electrical controls field. Reports to the Automation Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop new control systems or modify existing systems
• Work collaboratively with sales, operations, purchasing, engineering and production
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities
• Understand and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, quality standards of country in which work is undertaken
• Follow and contribute to the improvement of Departmental processes and procedures
• Assist Sales Application Engineers by providing timely estimates and quotes
• Project Manage small to midsize safety and automation projects from conception to start-up within cost and time constraints
• Generate wiring diagrams and panel layouts utilizing AutoCad Electric
• Write computer software and perform PLC and HMI programming
• Assist with installations, start-ups, trouble shooting and problem solving
• Maintain project files on our network

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Safety or a related field, or a minimum of eight years of experience in a fast paced Integration Engineering environment. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Project management training is a plus
• Ability to develop innovative concepts for turn-key safety automation and conveyor systems
• Strong Controls application experience utilizing PLC’s, HMIs 
• Familiar with the application of machine hard guarding and associated electrical safety products – FGRs, light curtains, safety PLCs
• Experience estimating and quoting engineered systems
• Strong Project Management experience, especially for heavy spec driven and multi-disciplined projects
• Experience working with engineers to develop engineered system requirements, scope of supply and defining project risks
• Experience working in an ISO environment and applying OSHA, Safety and N.E.C standards, working knowledge of ISO 13849, NFPA70, NFPA 79, and UL508A
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
