We are currently seeking an Electrical Project Designer in our Jacksonville, Florida Office. As a Senior Electrical Project Designer, you will be responsible for calculations, system design, equipment selections, reports, progress submittals, BIM instructions for your projects, and specifications required to assure project completeness and accuracy within the allocated period of time and monetary budget. You will also be expected to consistently exercise your own discretion and judgment in the performance of these duties. Scope: Responsible for the overall, multi-discipline supervision of assigned projects. Will typically be responsible for a large project or several small projects with many complex features. May be responsible for directing a staff of engineers and technicians while also obligated to actively bring work into the firm. Principal Responsibilities: Responsible for complete design by discipline for projects of all sizes. Makes major design recommendations and design decisions with little input from senior staff. Plans design work, calculates costs, and time schedules to assign design duties to junior staff working on projects. Coordinates design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers. Maintains project design notebook and provides documentation data for permanent project files. Acts as an advisor and reviews correspondence prepared by junior project team members. Evaluates project staffing requirements, analyzes problems, and writes reports. Attends project meetings, or when appropriate, can request junior staff to attend. Meets with clients, prepares proposals and presentations while maintaining good client relations. Identifies prospective clients, assists in marketing to develop new clients, and develops future projects with existing clients. Assists in project checking for quality control on other projects. Other duties assigned by the employer. Skills: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and structures. Skill in the use of Microsoft programs and BIM software. Ability to clearly communicate clearly in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups. Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise. Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, and a minimum of 8 years of qualifying experience. Or A minimum of 13 years of qualifying experience without a bachelor’s degree. Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds. Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull. Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.
