THIS POSITION
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Designer to join our team! You’ll be focused on electric design for critical infrastructure, transmission, and distribution projects. You will interact with clients, property owners, and vendors to collect and analyze data to estimate the labor, equipment, materials, subcontracts, and ancillary costs required to construct utility electrical projects.
To be considered, you should have a high school diploma and possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. You should also have a strong desire to learn new skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare preliminary and detailed construction plans, material requirements and cost estimates for electrical distribution overhead and underground projects
- Assisting in the development of, conductor replacement, structure replacements, and other overhead and underground projects
- Research and gather technical data for project planning and design
- Create and translate wind loads / pole loads / compliance forms using Ocalc
- Conduct cost and material estimations
- Help prepare change order requests and assist in project management
- Create and maintain project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports
- Attend pre-bid job walk meetings and site visits
- Verify that deliverables satisfy scope and technical requirements
- Participate in site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with design and safety standards
- Collaborate with other team members, including engineers and project managers
- Work with a high degree of problem solving and critical thinking with little supervision
- Perform other related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field preferred
- 1-2 years of industry experience preferred
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Ocalc and other relevant software preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
LOCATION
- This position is located in our Clovis office and requires off-site meetings or job site visits
