Designs solar PV (photovoltaic) systems, battery storage systems, off-grid microgrid and EVCS (electric vehicle charging systems).
Gains deep knowledge of PV system components and balance of systems, such as ESS (energy storage system), DC Gensets (generators), and EVCS.
Develops full construction drawing sets and engineering specifications.
Develops single-line and three-line diagrams, with required electrical details, in accordance with NEC, IEEE, utility interconnection tariffs and requirements.
Reviews and implements interconnection standards and ensures compliance.
Prepares interconnection application packages and setup load flow and dynamic models.
Develops detailed equipment specifications and bill of material.
Designs collection systems, including cable routing and cable sizing.
Manages and performs system studies for protective device coordination and the following explorations: short circuit, arc flash, load flows, ampacity, grounding, harmonic, and power quality.
Visits project sites assessing and documenting site dimensions, electrical systems, EVCS / ESS / Solar PV location and utility interconnection options.
Answers questions, reviews change requests, and revises designs, as needed.
Ensures compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes.
Responds to contractor submittals, reviews by the authority having jurisdiction, and requests for information, according to project requirements, codes, client goals, and the company’s best interest.
Writes persuasive documents that describe facility improvement opportunities and solutions.
Develops and/or maintains a network of vendor technology partners offering innovative DER (distributed energy resource) solutions and regularly integrates different DER components into solutions.
