Through the identification of recurring maintenance issues and the application of root cause failure analysis, the incumbent devises action plans for resolution. Furthermore, they endeavor to mitigate crises such as equipment breakdowns, quality issues, and safety hazards.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct safety audits, lead safety meetings, investigate incidents/accidents, deliver safety talks, and collaborate closely with safety representatives to enhance mill safety.
    • Oversee maintenance activities and spends time on the floor communicating instructions and directives to tradesmen during huddle meetings.
    • Plan repair schedules in cooperation with production, coordinating with the production group to plan shutdowns and basic care.
    • Evaluate demands and prioritizes work to ensure optimal support for operations.
    • Implement Management Operating Systems (MOS) in daily activities, supports MOS meetings, and ensures adherence to MOS by direct reports.
    • Interact with various external service representatives and vendors to ensure cost-effective, timely, and quality services, working closely with the purchasing department to procure necessary supplies.
    • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and collective agreements, taking appropriate measures as needed.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to tradesmen, encouraging their involvement in problem-solving and continuous improvement.
    • Plan and organize crew work to ensure efficient daily departmental operations.
    • Monitor environmental compliance, taking necessary steps with the crew to prevent violations, and notifies environmental personnel as needed.
    • Ensure tradesmen have the necessary tools, materials, and resources to efficiently complete tasks.
    • Provide tradesmen with adequate training to support departmental activities and meet future manpower needs.
    • Manage motor repairs and maintain spare inventory.
    • Maintain records of time and attendance, employee performance evaluations, and various reports.
    • Communicate new procedures and addresses employee concerns on topics such as safety and production.
    • Report on call for maintenance duties for a one-week period every 10 weeks.
    • Report problems with the food safety management system to designated personnel and ensures proper actions are initiated and recorded.
    • Maintain awareness of the Food Safety Policy, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP principles, and Food Safety Standards.
