    Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000, dependent upon experience
    Type of Position: Full-Time; FLSA exempt

    Position Summary:

    Manage and maintain all aspects of aquatic operations at each facility, ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of programs and services. Responsible for planning and executing programs, training team members, assisting with development projects, and ensures the division is adequately staffed. Manages aquatic staffing year-round, implements safety protocols and ensures facility compliance to provide a positive experience for patrons. Implements business plans, SOPs, and work processes.

    Reports to: General Manager

    Other: Works closely with Recreation Supervisor and Maintenance Supervisor

    Essential Duties & Required Qualifications

    • Manages aquatic division, plans, prepares, and executes daily operations.
    • Administers the aquatic budget, monitors revenues and expenditures.
    • Responsible for hiring, evaluating and developing aquatic management team and seasonal staff.
    • Manage the operation, maintenance, security and repair of the assigned facilities and equipment.
    • Prepare and operate seasonal outdoor pool.
    • Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and train staff. Plan, schedule, and assign work of staff.
    • Evaluate operational policies and initiate changes for improvement.
    • Coordinate in-service training and safety auditing program for assigned facilities.
    • Coordinate lifeguarding/CPR/pool operator/instructor certifications and classes.
    • Processes invoices and payments.
    • Creates safety procedures and protocols for each district facility.
    • Communicates with various teams within the district to properly administer various policies and procedures.
    • Oversee aquatic facility rental and marketing of aquatic programs.
    • Develop curriculum for water safety program and other programming for aquatic facilities.
    • Control expenditures in accordance with approved budget.
    • Proficient and familiar with specialized aquatic management software.
    • Provide guidance to subordinate staff on employee-related matters (i.e. disciplinary,

    training, recruitment, and selection, etc.)

    • Research and evaluate internal and external programming, utilizing this information to develop new initiatives or to restructure current programs.
    • Strong knowledge of aquatic safety practices, pool operations, water chemistry, and relevant regulations.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with staff, patrons, and stakeholders.
    • Maintain accurate records related to incident reports, program attendance, and pool facility logs.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively, including problem-solving skills and conflict resolution.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work within a budget.
    • Must be willing to work evenings. weekends, and holidays as needed.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    · Knowledge of pool operation standards, policies, and procedures.

    · Knowledge of contractual agreements for facility users.

    · Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

    · Ability to perceive problem situations with user groups and implement immediate solutions.

    · Knowledge of principles, policies, and practices of the Sonterra MUD District.

    Equipment, Machines, Tools, and Work Aids:

    · Handles the filtration system and other aquatic operating systems.

    · Maintains proper pool chemical balance using chlorination and acid systems.

    Education:
    Required - Bachelor’s Degree in Parks Administration, Recreation Administration, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.

    Preferred – Master’s degree in one of the previously mentioned areas from an accredited four-year college or university.

    Experience:
    Required - Five (5) years or more of experience in aquatic or parks program administration or a similar position.

    Preferred – Seven (7) years or more years of experience in aquatic or parks program administration or a similar position.

    License or Certificate:
    Required – Valid Texas Class C driver’s license or the ability to obtain prior to employment; CPR/First Aid/AED, Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO). Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), and Water Safety Instructor (WSI).

    Preferred – Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP).

    Physical Demands:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push, pull, drag up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Applicants must possess strong swimming abilities, including the capability to proficiently dive and reach the bottom of deep wells within each pool. This requirement is essential for roles involving water safety and pool maintenance, ensuring the employee can effectively respond to emergencies and fulfill tasks related to pool infrastructure upkeep.

    Working Conditions:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions; extreme heat; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
