SUMMARY:
The Electronic Specialist in Auxiliary Facilities Services is a system operator for the CMU access control and CCTV systems. This position performs maintenance, repair and service to security, safety, access control, CCTV, mechanical, structural systems to ensure a functional safe and attractive campus, consistent with the educational role and mission of Colorado Mesa University. This position is a technician in the Access Technology & Life Safety Office, Atlas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
System operator for electronic access control systems. This includes development and maintenance of the access control database system, updating access control authorizations as approved by the University, coordination with our Mav Card office to support their efforts, etc.
System operator for all university building lighting control systems, including system selection , integration with audio visual systems, programming and maintenance.
Develops access scheme for new construction and remodeling projects.
System operator for CCTV systems, both POE and analog systems.
Develops CCTV scheme for new construction and remodeling projects.
Coordinates with the University IT Department to ensure proper network connectivity is available to operate the systems.
Produce and present relevant Access Technology & Life Safety training materials.
Coordinate with Campus Safety office to define and apply best practices to Access Technology & Life Safety database management.
Provide preventative maintenance of access control and CCTV systems on regular intervals, with appropriate documentation .
Troubleshoot, installs, replaces and repairs complex electromechanical access control components.
Responds to service calls after business hours.
Maintains appropriate records.
Accurately records work performed in Facilities Services work order management system.
Provide daily direction to student workers.
Maintains and repairs doors, locks and their associated hardware in all campus buildings.
Installs, replaces, and repairs locks and hardware on wood and metal doors.
The position requires the ability and willingness to work after normal business hours (swing shift) and/or overtime as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED

Proven skills in the following: managing facility access for identification card holders, performing maintenance on electronic and mechanical locks, updating and upgrading electronic lock systems to include designing the access scheme for new buildings, and master keying system skills.

Experience or certification with computer/internet based control systems.

Demonstrated ability to use modern technology to perform and track job tasks.

A High school diploma or GED.

Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license
PREFERRED

Two or Four College degree in Computer Sciences, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering or other similar programs

Experience programming and managing a complex access control system.

Experience with computer lighting controls such as Crestron, Wattstopper, or Douglas.

Vanderbilt SMS experience/certification.

exacqVision experience/certification.

Experience or certification with addressed fire alarm systems, especially Honeywell Notifier.

Previous law enforcement or campus safety experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, blueprints and testing reports. Must be able to effectively respond to questions from groups of managers, faculty, staff, students, external customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures, amounts and square footages. Experience using Microsoft Excel to create and maintain spreadsheets
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions from standard engineering and shop drawings.
