EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Software Developer specializing in Rhapsody and HL7, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining EDI solutions tailored specifically for healthcare organizations. Your expertise in Rhapsody integration engine and HL7 standards will be essential in ensuring seamless data exchange between healthcare systems, improving interoperability, and enhancing patient care delivery.
Responsibilities: Utilize Rhapsody integration engine to design, develop, and deploy EDI solutions for healthcare organizations, including hospitals, clinics, and medical laboratories. Implement HL7 interfaces for exchanging healthcare data, including admission/discharge/transfer (ADT), orders and results (ORU, ORM), clinical documents (CCD, CDA), and medical imaging (DICOM). Collaborate with healthcare IT teams, clinical staff, and external vendors to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Develop and maintain HL7 message schemas, mappings, and transformations within the Rhapsody environment. Configure Rhapsody channels and connectors to establish secure and reliable communication channels for EDI transactions (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTPS, SOAP, REST). Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to HL7 message parsing, validation, and routing within Rhapsody, ensuring data integrity and compliance with industry standards. Collaborate with database administrators to integrate HL7 data into healthcare information systems (HIS), electronic health records (EHR), and other clinical applications. Stay abreast of evolving HL7 standards and industry trends, and assess their impact on EDI solutions and interoperability initiatives. Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders on Rhapsody configuration, HL7 implementation, and best practices in healthcare data exchange. Participate in testing, quality assurance, and documentation activities to ensure the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of EDI solutions.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: REQUIRED - Rhapsody Integration Engine Professional Certified. 2 years working as an EDI Developer with a focus on healthcare IT and HL7 standards. In-depth knowledge of HL7 standards, including HL7 v2.x (e.g., v2.3, v2.5) and HL7 v3/CDA. Experience with HL7 message structure, segments, fields, and data types, and proficiency in developing HL7 message transformations. Familiarity with healthcare data exchange protocols and security standards (e.g., DICOM, FHIR, HIPAA). Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, clinical terminology, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Meaningful Use, HITECH Act). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex EDI issues and propose effective solutions. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing project requirements in a dynamic healthcare environment. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
