    Position Title: Electronics/Controls Technician
    Job Purpose:
    The Electronics/Controls Technician plays a pivotal role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic components within industrial machinery and equipment. This position involves collaborating with fellow technicians while progressively taking on more challenging tasks. The overarching objective is to gain comprehensive exposure to various maintenance department activities, encompassing electrical motors, control systems, and instruments.
    Responsibilities:

    • Adhere strictly to safe work practices, particularly lockout/tagout procedures.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork within the work environment.
    • Exhibit a proactive approach to learning new technologies relevant to the role.
    • Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously.
    • Maintain effective communication with operators, mechanics, engineers, supervisors, and plant leadership.
    • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software is advantageous.
    • Install, assemble, test, and upkeep electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, and fixtures using appropriate tools.
    • Diagnose system malfunctions using test equipment and hand tools, pinpointing issues and rectifying them promptly.
    • Proficiency in connecting to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), interpreting basic ladder logic, and performing basic programming tasks.
    • Backup and manage machine software effectively.
    • Ability to interpret detailed instructions, both written and verbal.
    • Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits and interpret electrical schematics/blueprints.
    • Perform under pressure to diagnose and resolve problems efficiently.
    • Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment.
    • Execute necessary job work orders accurately.
    • Maintain thorough documentation of work performed for future reference.

    Qualifications:
    • Proficiency in testing, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting instrumentation and control system components using schematics and vendor manuals.
    • Competence in troubleshooting and basic programming across a range of PLC/HMI platforms, with preference for Allen-Bradley, Redlion, Unitronics, and Omron PLCs.
    • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Servo setups and operations.
    • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with PC hardware and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows.
    • Ability to interpret schematics and utilize PCs and PLCs for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
    • Practical experience with AC/DC voltages ranging from 5 to 480 volts.
    • Proficient in electrical wiring adhering to the National Electric Code.
    • Familiarity with instrumentation, motors, and process controls, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
    Working Conditions:
    • Willingness to work extended hours, including mandatory overtime and alternating weekends.
    • Adaptability to varying environmental conditions, including wet/damp surroundings and fluctuating temperatures.
    • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision in a demanding environment.
    • Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted, bending, standing, climbing, or walking as required.
