Emergency Dispatcher is responsible for responding to calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance and dispatching law enforcement, fire fighting, or rescue units. Transmits and receives coded and conventional messages. Being an Emergency Dispatcher differentiates between routine, priority, and emergency messages, and initiates or follows through on responses as required. Communicates details of situation and location. Additionally, Emergency Dispatcher enters unit response details into a database. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Dispatcher works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. The primary responsibilities of this position are: managing the day to day operation of jobs, scheduling employees, and routing trucks & equipment. This position is responsible for utilizing communication, problem solving, and time management skills to deliver prompt service according to the customer's needs. The dispatchers serve as an ambassador for the Company as the primary customer interface contact. This position is considered safety sensitive.
Other important responsibilities of this position include ability to use computers, excel spreadsheets, various computer programs, email, mapping trucks and watching levels and production trends. Must have sense of direction and capable of reading a map. Will need to give out directions verbally over the phone when guiding a driver into a location.
In addition to the above, the responsibilities of this position include working in multiple programs simultaneusly, willingness to learn new programs if needed.
The mental aspects of the job include the skills and abilities to communicate and work well with others, as well as understand the job tasks and instructions given.
The qualifications for this position are: oilfield experience preferred, knowledge of Federal DOT rules and regulations, logistics experience preferred, but not required.
The work schedule for this position is set forth by the Logistics Manager. Employee schedules are subject to change based on business needs and the employee's skill set.
