ABOUT THE POSITION

The Marin County Fire Department is seeking multiple full-time regular hire Fire Dispatcher Trainees. The regular work schedule is known as a two by four.

Employees will be assigned to one of three shifts that work a two day on and four day off work schedule, working a 48-hour shift followed by 96 hours off (this is an average of 10 workdays per month).

The approximate annual salary range (including built in overtime) for Fire Dispatcher Trainee is $90,189 - $109,591 depending on qualifications.

We recognize your time is valuable, so please note that you must have at least the following required Minimum Qualifications in order to be considered for this position :

Minimum Qualifications

Equivalent to graduation from high school. One year of experience involving heavy public contact and handling several tasks simultaneously.

Experience with a fire, emergency medical, law enforcement or similar public agency and entering information into an automated system are highly desirable.

Certificates and Licenses

Possession of and / or ability to obtain an Emergency Medical Dispatch Certificate within six (6) months of assignment.

Failure to obtain and / or maintain the Emergency Medical Dispatch Certificate, as appropriate to assignment, during employment will result in the termination of employment.

Disaster Service Workers : All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109).

Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
